12 of The Best Gluten-Free Foods

Since going gluten-free, we have lost weight and haven’t felt so down. I don’t really know how to describe it, but we don’t feel so consumed. We don’t eat as much because when you give your body what it needs, you feel better. Like, you eat sugar, you are going to want more. I haven’t had real unnatural sugar or candy of any kind in quite some time. We notice the difference immensely. We went out of town for a conference a few weeks ago, and let’s just say we couldn’t even keep their food down because our bodies have adjusted SO MUCH to eating healthily. It is amazing how much a diet can change you mentally, physically, and emotionally. Catch up on why we hopped on this journey.

It’s important to always look at the ingredients. In general, when determining whether a food product is made using gluten-containing ingredients, you are looking for six keywords: wheat, barley, rye, oats, malt, and brewer’s yeast.

I want you also to note that you can still eat bread, tortillas, etc. You merely need to make sure you are eating the right types.

Here are 12 of the best gluten-free foods:

Be careful what you look for in products. If you see any of these, the goods contain gluten:

  1. Triticum vulgare (wheat)
  2. Triticale (a cross between wheat and rye)
  3. Hordeum vulgare (barley)
  4. Secale cereale (rye)
  5. Triticum spelta (spelt, a form of wheat)

We decided to go gluten-free to be healthier, and to try out some ideas behind autism. We are sharing our journey as time goes on, and this is still fairly new to us. Gluten-free so far has treated us well.

Help Your Skin With Blue Tansy Essential Oil

Blue Tansy Essential Oil comes from the Moroccan plant Tanacetum annuum and is a cousin to the Roman Camomile plant. Be careful to not get it on your clothes or skin directly because it has been known to stain from its deep indigo color. But don’t worry, use it topically with Fractionated Coconut oil and you will be stain free.

Blue Tansy is one of the latest and greatest oils and comes from a bright yellow-flowered Mediterranean herb. Most of you have actually probably already experienced the benefits of Blue Tansy as it is a key ingredient in the Deep Blue collection. It has naturally powerful soothing properties that help provide relief after a hard workout. On its own, this oil is perfect for reducing blemishes, is a great help when your mood needs a little extra oomph, and can provide a more concentrated soothing sensation when applied topically with Fractionated Coconut Oil.

Keep Your Skin Healthy with Blue Tansy

Hailing from northern Morocco, Blue Tansy is a new single oil now offered by doTERRA. It may sound familiar to you already—that’s because Blue Tansy is a key ingredient in some doTERRA blends, including doTERRA Balance® and Deep Blue®. Experimental research indicates that this oil is useful for helping to keep skin looking healthy, due to chamazulene, the same chemical that gives the oil its characteristic deep indigo color. In fact, it is already being put to use in the new Anti-Aging Eye Cream as part of the updated Essential Skin Care line.

Our Favorite Uses

Although this is not an oil that you can take internally, you can use Blue Tansy in a variety of ways both topically and aromatically.

Add a Drop of Copaiba Oil to Your Water!

An exceptional addition to the resinous oils doTERRA offers, Copaiba is extracted from copaiba trees in the Amazon rainforest. The essential oil is steam distilled from the copaiba oleoresin, a substance made up of resin and essential oils. The collection process of the oleoresin is unique among essential oils—it is tapped from the tree in a similar way to how maple trees are for their syrup. The oleoresin is then steam distilled to produce the essential oil.

Copaiba’s main chemical component is beta-caryophyllene, a chemical similar to cannabinoids found in cannabis that may protect nerve cells and have benefits for the cardiovascular and immune systems.*

Our Favorite Uses

Copaiba is a versatile oil. See some of our favorite ways to use Copaiba below:

  1. Keep your skin clear and clean while reducing the appearance of blemishes by adding Copaiba to your toner or by applying it directly to skin before applying moisturizer.
  2.  Copaiba blends well with Roman Chamomile, Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Frankincense, or Ylang Ylang. Using any of these oils that appeal to you, create your own personal fragrance in a roller bottle, and then fill the rest of the bottle with Fractionated Coconut Oil.
  3.  Most of the body can benefit from Copaiba—it supports the cardiovascular, immune, digestive, nervous, and immune system.* To take advantage of these benefits for any of these systems, add one to two drops to water, juice, or make your own tea using warm water and honey.
  4. When you’re facing a stressful day ahead or feeling worried, diffusing Copaiba’s woody scent can help calm any anxious feelings you may be experiencing.
  5. Take one to two drops in a veggie capsule to take advantage of the antioxidants—the substance that stops potential damage to your cells from oxidation.*
  6. Use in a calming bath by adding two to three drops to body wash before mixing it in the water.

Did you know?

  • The Amazon rainforest represents over half of the planet’s remaining rainforests. doTERRA is proud to partner with a large network of copaiba harvesters that sustainably collect their oleoresin and ensure that the trees will be around for years to come.
  • Copaiba trees can grow to more than 100 feet tall.
