Best Banking System to use: Get FREE $50.

I switched over my banking when I was going through a divorce. Still to this day, I am using it. Now I have transferred all my accounts to KeyBank. This bank has been so kind and amazing; they have truly provided amazing customer service.

I think I have about 10 different accounts with them and I LOVE all the rewards and perks that come with this bank. It is also makes transferring money between accounts easier instead of writing checks or wire transfers.

With the credit cards that I have now, I get cashback so that is a win-win. I have a local bank about five minutes from my house and they know me; I can rely on them and ask questions.

Earn $50 when your friend opens a new checking account with a minimum opening deposit by December 31, 2021, and makes one $500 direct deposit in the first 60 days. Your gift will be delivered to you within 60 days of meeting the requirements if the account is still open and not overdrawn. They’ll get a great new checking account and $50, too.

Five Simple Ways to Save Money Right NOW

We all want to save money, especially at the beginning of the year, every single year. We set these goals, and we do good for a day or two, then fall off the wagon. The truth is that you can save a few simple ways.

Here are FIVE simple ways to save money right NOW:

  1. Set Savings Goals

The first step is to think about what and why you are putting money aside. It can be for a vacation, retirement, or just for a savings account. You need to really break down the purpose you are saving. The objective depends on where you are and where you want to be. Set yourself milestones and goals. Check in once a month or bi-weekly and see where you are and how far away you are from your goals.

  1. Pay Yourself First

Set up an auto debit from your checking account to your savings account each time you get paid. This action is something referred to as “set it and forget it.” The number doesn’t need to be much, but take a look back at step one and see how much you need to save each month.

  1. Stop Smoking

My husband smokes, eh. I hate it, but it has been SO hard for him to quit. We have tried so many different options. I often think about how much we could save if he stopped smoking. If you smoke a pack and a half every day, that amounts to nearly $3,000 a year. Imagine a nice vacation you could have with that money; that is a considerable chunk of change!

  1. Take a “Staycation”

The place doesn’t even need to be anywhere close or far away, but somewhere with a bit of distance so you can truly enjoy the trip. Not traveling too out-of-the-way will save you money, while you are still able to have a little fun.

  1. Pack Your Lunch

I am pretty adamant when it comes to taking your lunch. To prevent spending $10+ a day on a meal, I pack my own and snacks. I do manage to treat myself at least once a week or bi-weekly. By saving that money, I can put it aside into a separate bank account to see exactly how much I saved from not eating out.

One more quick way to save: Create an Interest-Bearing Account. Many banks have different interest rates or rewards. Invest in the one that will bring the most bang for your buck. When you have a savings account, you certainly want to ensure to get a high interest rate.

Once you get a savings account built up, open a CD or emergency fund with a larger investment rate so that you can let it sit and build cash. What are some ways that you save money? Prepare for your future by always setting aside a little bit at a time over a longer period!

How To Make Money With Photography

Whether you take photos of food, landscapes, office decor, or even portraits, you should use that work wisely. In fact, let’s  get you paid by selling some photos! Why not put your photos to good use? Shutterstock is a great way to make some extra cash.

Often misconceptions or questions surround selling photos. Making money from selling your photos doesn’t happen over night – much like anything else.

But here are some pointers that will help you increase profit just by selling your images:

  1. Good Lighting– Make sure your photos are lit well. You should be using a flash for this, but be careful not to over expose the image either.
  2. Not over edited– Avoid using filters or any overlays on your images. Shutterstock will not approve these.
  3. Sell what they buy– This will take some time. But once people pay for an image, keep taking photos of what they are purchasing. Regardless if you like it or not, if it is selling, then it’s a go!
  4. Have fun– Don’t stress about making money, it will happen when you least expect it to. I visit the portal weekly so that I don’t go crazy wondering if I earned anything or not.
  5. Keywords– This is critical! Be sure to look at other images and take notes. This is the bread and butter to really help you sell.
  6. Plan ahead– If you are in the month of March, start uploading images of America, the 4th of July, summer, etc. People are searching for these now!

The money will add up over time and you will get to enjoy your hobby at the same time., So, why not? You can always find out what will be approved via Shutterstock on their page. Again, ensure you also do not have any major brand names in the photos! There is also a lot of helpful links on shutterstock that you can find, so look around. Happy Selling!

4 Ways to stay on budget

It is important to understand where your money is going in order to save money, and stay on budget. I like something called the “40/20/30 system” I will break it down for you in this blog post and hope that you can benefit from using it.

  • 50% of your salary for monthly payments such as rent, bills, health, cell phone, internet, etc. You know those monthly bills that you hate to pay but are essential.
  • 20% towards savings. This is meant for your savings or emergency account and isn’t meant to be spent unless it is an emergency.
  • 30% for leisure savings such as restaurants, shopping, movies, etc. This is the stuff that might not be a monthly payment, but often times comes back around. This can be flexible spending since you might not go out each month, and would rather spend it on something else.

The first thing you need to do is write down every amount of money you spend. Your bank account overview doesn’t count, because it doesn’t show what you are buying. I hate looking at my bank account because I am be surprised at the end of the month. I get depressed seeing how much I spent, then I go back through the bank statement wondering where it all went and what was purchased and what was a necessary. I mean honestly, do we even know where our money goes?

I like the Envelope System

This is for you to have a different envelope for each spending category. You just need to add the cash in the envelopes in the beginning of each month. This is a great way to reduce your spending and know how much you can spend. You will be forced to not purchase anything on your card.Once the cash is gone, it is gone and you can’t spend it elsewhere.

I know this might not seem realistic or can seem overwhelming to many so here are seven Baby Steps to think about for spending:

  • Emergency fund
  • Pay off all debt but the house
  • Have 3 to 6 months of expenses in savings
  • Save 15% of income for retirement
  • College funding for children
  • Pay off mortgage loan
  • Build wealth and give to others.

Smart Ways to Save Money!

We are in a constant battle of where our money is going and how to stop spending. My famous words are that its not about how much we make its about how we spend it. People can make millions and still not know how to manage their money and just in a financial burden; it doesnt matter.

I have to take a step back and re-evulate spending and budgets. We can be frugal and still have a good time. Often times people don’t want to go out because they don’t have the money, its all about how you budget it.

  • Let’s tackle this first topic.. you don’t need groceries. Now before you say uh we need to survive I am talking about about the excessive groceries. You know those that you buy on impulse or think you need. I constantly stock up on meat and there is no way we will ever eat it all. Plus sometimes there’s a good storm that comes by and causes us to lose power…. thus means losing money and food! Instead of purchasing all this processed food, why don’t you try making items? I know what you are thinking, uh I don’t have time. We are joining this journey of eating healthier food and eliminating processed food. Take off your list ice cream and make a smoothie instead with FRESH fruit. Take off that expensive cheese and get the cheaper cheese. Take off soda and try fruit drinks instead (add in lemon or limes, etc). Just because you eliminate these items doesnt mean you are going to starve. Trust me when I eliminate these items from grocery shopping I come home and think I hardly got anything.. Well.. the truth is that I didnt! I just eliminated processed food!
  • Set a budget for your groceries and stick to it! You have to! Otherwise it is pointless.. Shop around and find the better deals on certain items so that this way you can be sure that you have stuck to your budget. We like to have snacks, we do, but cut out the bad snacks like chips, cookies, etc. add in peanut butter and apples or rice cakes simple small things. If you like to bake you can always make cupcakes or bread! We like to make banana bread and freeze it!! We make about 4 loafs at a time so we take them out as needed.
  • Make a meal plan and pantry list. Always cook items at home. Use what you have!!! Do t buy things you won’t use simple as that! I tend to buy canned goods because it’s nice to have in stock but don’t over stock. Make a meal plan and prep for the week I promise you that your money will go to the right spot!!! Do it!!
  • Don’t go shopping every week.. you don’t need to! Go every two weeks. And go as needed for eggs, milk, bread, fresh veggies and fruits!! Why? Because if you have to think further ahead than two weeks you will be excessive and have wasted food.
  • Freeze left overs.. um thats your lunch in a few weeks or tomorrow.  Use left overs for meal prep! Eat the left overs!! You need to. You can even re create meals from your left overs… if you have chicken make a chicken ceasar from it!

Take Surveys For Gift Cards!

I LOVE taking surveys and making money from it! Now, I know what you are thinking sometimes it isn’t worth it. I have dealt with so many survey companies that will have you keep taking a survey only to tell you, you aren’t qualified or it has been full so now you wasted time and are frustrated.

Well, let me tell you! I have found the perfect solution. YouGov doesn’t do that to you! Their surveys aren’t as frequent either so once you get an email that one is ready you have to jump on it pretty quickly. I am a huge fan of this though, you will get points which then turn over into gift cards. UM perfect for gift shopping right? I love gift cards when something as simple as 15-20 minutes is easy!

I just got my FIRST gift card from them, its super easy and fun. I love being able to provide some quick feedback and make some extra money. Like I said the surveys are super often, but you get points that build up. PLUS if you refer someone you get extra brownie points so make sure you check it out using my code by clicking this link!
