I love how photography can be such an interesting challenge and topic. There seems to always be something to learn and gain from it. How To Make Money With Photography

Whether you take photos of food, landscapes, office decor, or even portraits, you should use that work wisely. In fact, let’s  get you paid by selling some photos! Why not put your photos to good use? Shutterstock is a great way to make some extra cash.

Often misconceptions or questions surround selling photos. Making money from selling your photos doesn’t happen over night – much like anything else.

But here are some pointers that will help you increase profit just by selling your images:

  1. Good Lighting– Make sure your photos are lit well. You should be using a flash for this, but be careful not to over expose the image either.
  2. Not over edited– Avoid using filters or any overlays on your images. Shutterstock will not approve these.
  3. Sell what they buy– This will take some time. But once people pay for an image, keep taking photos of what they are purchasing. Regardless if you like it or not, if it is selling, then it’s a go!
  4. Have fun– Don’t stress about making money, it will happen when you least expect it to. I visit the portal weekly so that I don’t go crazy wondering if I earned anything or not.
  5. Keywords– This is critical! Be sure to look at other images and take notes. This is the bread and butter to really help you sell.
  6. Plan ahead– If you are in the month of March, start uploading images of America, the 4th of July, summer, etc. People are searching for these now!

The money will add up over time and you will get to enjoy your hobby at the same time., So, why not? You can always find out what will be approved via Shutterstock on their page. Again, ensure you also do not have any major brand names in the photos! There is also a lot of helpful links on shutterstock that you can find, so look around. Happy Selling!

Christmas Gifts: Thinking Outside The Box

The holidays are coming very quickly and I can’t believe it. Usually I have started my Christmas shopping by now, but I feel so behind this year already! I really struggle some years with shopping for others, because it is so hard to know what they want.

IMG_0919.JPG

Most of the times I go back to my traditional photos for inspiration and gift ideas! Grandparents, aunts, uncles, and the rest of the family really love these personalized gifts. Though it gets tiring pouring over old photos, especially when there is a limit to just how many you can frame and put around your house.

That is why I like to get creative with my holiday gifts! I use photos and put them on mugs, calendars, canvases, and sometimes even puzzles.

Sick Baby Fun

Oh my goodness last week we had a sick baby. It’s hard being a mom and small business owner. You really have to learn how to manage it all. Even if you have help it still sucks.

I just don’t get when babies are sick they are miserable so are we. But there’s something about the baby. You don’t know how to care for baby other than cuddle. You know what they are going through but they can’t relate or talk because it’s new. It’s so frustrating for a mom. You know it sucks for them and they just want to feel better.

You go to the doctors and its normal like they just can’t put baby on medicine when theres nothing wrong?! It’s frustrating and Im thankful its nothing major, but I just want him to feel better!

Yeah we lose sleep and get extra sweet cuddles but really…,  I feel so hurt I wish there was more I could do. I don’t know about this whole new mom thing I just don’t. We learn and adjust but how!?

What are some your secrets to help a baby get better? We have him some tyenol but really I think it’s just one of things that will go away in time. Luckily he was still content, ate, and didn’t have a fever!
